facebook

so...i'm reading in the news lately that there are people who are (admitting to be) *addicted* to facebook.

seriously?

really?

these are people who admit they have greater responsibilities, i.e. Children, Families, Jobs, etc. yet "can't help themselves" from spending hours upon end on facebook every day, neglecting before-mentioned responsibilities, pining over past relationships once they *friend* a long-lost acquaintance, be them friendships or romantic interludes, that are OVER and in the past.

really? let's not worry about the economy. or raising decent children as caring, responsible human beings who will someday decide our future and whether or not we will wear diapers in a public facility or be carefully coddled in the privacy of a family home. or about REAL addictions like kiddie porn, or gambling, or anything else REAL. c'mon, people. this is just our scared generation trying to make up for the fact that the Internet hasn't existed our ENTIRE life and we feel slighted at the fact that technology is moving faster than we can keep up with. we're trying to make up for lost time, and we're just looking like jackasses in the process.

*news flash* = get over it. get outside. read a book. go on a picnic. take a hike. play with your kids, for god's sake - why did you have them if you're just going to stick them in front of the tv? that's cruel to do even to your pets.

get off the internet. there are hundreds of Law & Order episodes that go unwatched every day b/c of people addicted to the internet rather than Cable TV, which is apparently not the *in thing* anymore. turn off your computer and turn on your TV already. sheesh.

Rock on, Opera Memphis!!

so, Adam Klein is playing the title role at Opera Memphis' production of Faust this month. Fascinating character. Amazing what one can do with some imagination, initiative, hard work, and - oh yeah - Talent. And, the opera will feature ballet (which is usually not included in Faust productions b/c of length and some other inane reasons), and following the opera will be a special performance by On a Dead Machine. and i bet the blue hairs stay and Love It!

And people dare to say Memphis is just barbecue and Elvis. As if!

do thumbthing~i'm an art director; i don't pay attention to words!

trust me. no, really, TRUST ME. i think i just found my new inspiration. i found a show that perfectly describes the pace and insanity of my everyday job...except, of course, for the title of creative director, the posh job in a high-paying firm in which i can still wear jeans to work (since i'm the creative director), the beautiful corner office with the cityscape view (chicago, ny or seattle, of course), the assistant, and everything else that TV can provide that i always dreamed my job would entail. but, it's Brilliant. and Funny. and i can Relate To It. the underlings. the clients. the people who take your ideas and throw them under a city bus while laughing hysterically...
*sigh*
this and madmen, i'm tellin' ya...

i love my job. seriously. yes, really.

drink out of the milk carton - c'mon, you know you want to.

you know what's great about living alone (there's not time for the complete list, but this is a recent epiphany)? you can drink out of the milk carton. that's right, just like your mom always told you not to, and just like you always told Him not to. it's liberating, girls, and i highly recommend it. it even makes me kinda want to grunt and scratch myself...but really, why is that ever necessary?

Gobama!

is it just me, or is the sun shining a little brighter today?
